Why has there been no massive outcry against plans to convert the old ABC/Cannon cinema building in Northampton into yet another pub? Are there not enough pubs in the town already?
Yet when the Jesus Army wins permission to convert the cinema into a day care centre for people with problems, that victory, a victory for common sense and decency, is snatched away from them while another application is considered.
Others have said they want to bring a bit of life to the top end of Abington Street. Oh yes? What kind of life would that be compared to the life that Jesus Christ brings?
The council wants pubs and more pubs. Let us, as ordinary citizens and Christians, stand up and say we want a different kind of life for our town.
