CINEMA PLAN FACES DELAY

A rival bid to convert Northampton's former Cannon cinema into a pub-restaurant has been deferred by councillors because the applicant failed to provide the correct paperwork.

Times Square Entertainment, which owns the art-deco cinema in Abington Square, was told it had not submitted the required paperwork by the council's development control sub-committee last night.

The grade two listed building is also the prime target of the Jesus Fellowship. The sect won approval last January to turn the site into a place of worship and day centre, but it does not yet own the site.
