The Jesus Army has been told to re-submit plans to stage a party during the summer after borough councillors refused their application.
Concern over the condition and over-use of many of the parks in the town led members of the borough council's environment services committee to reject the music festival.
But Northampton Borough Council says it will contact the Nether Heyford-based Christian sect and encourage them to supply them with more than three dates.
The Destiny event will include bands, DJ's and a portable baptism pool and was due to take place on either June 16, June 30 or July 14.
