DEDICATED volunteers from JobCentre Plus spent the day sprucing up the Jesus Centre in Coventry city centre.
A hard-working team, made up of managers from JobCentre offices in the city, gave the Lamb Street building a much-needed lick of paint. The group also helped buy items of food for parcels which were distributed to needy and homeless people in the city.
Piers Young, manager of the Bridge drop-in centre for homeless people, which runs out of the Jesus Centre, said: “I really appreciated the work that they did because they worked really hard and were helpful throughout the day.
“Their work for the Bridge drop-in centre, buying food and putting food parcels together, was much appreciated and really helped a lot because it usually takes a long time to do.”
The JobCentre managers decided to help out at the Jesus Centre as part of an annual outreach scheme to benefit the community.
